Lady Cards down Lady Hawks, fall to Strayhorn, Bruce The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals opened their week on the softball diamond with a win over rival Myrtle. Only
minutes into the road game Monday, April 9, the Lady Cardinals scored
two runs and left one on base. The Lady Hawks came to bat and they
scored one run in the first inning. The Lady Cardinals added more in the second inning. The Lady Hawks came back in the sixth inning and scored. Potts Camp defeated Myrtle 4-2. Kayla
Yarbrough found herself back on the mound with Megan Watkins behind the
plate. Yarbrough ended the night with 11 strikeouts. Scoring for the Lady Cardinals were Watkins, Yarbrough and Hayley Davis. Lady Cards fall short Tuesday,
April 10, the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals traveled to face Strayhorn. The
varsity and junior varsity teams played the Lady Mustangs. Pitching for the Lady Cardinals was Watkins with Yarbrough catching. The
Lady Cardinals were unable to get the bats going. The Lady Mustangs
went up 2-0 on the Lady Cardinals. The Lady Cardinals were unable to
score until the fifth inning. Potts Camp fell 4-1 with Destiny Waddle scoring the lone run. Watkins, from the pitcher’s circle, ended the game with two strikeouts. The JV Lady Cardinals went head-on with the Lady Mustangs. Kayla Brown pitched for the Lady Cardinals with Taylor Childress catching. The Lady Cards got off to a good start. They scored two runs in the first inning and two in the second. However, they came up short, 5-4. The JV Lady Mustangs scored two runs in the first inning and three in the third. Lady Cards-Bruce The
Potts Camp Lady Cardinals also traveled to Bruce to wrap up the week.
This was a Region 2-2A game and the Lady Cards were hoping to take the
victory home with them. Potts Camp was up first. The first inning was over very quickly, four up and three down, leaving one on base not scoring. Yarbrough
was the pitcher for the Lady Cardinals with Childress behind the plate.
The Lady Trojans were able to score one run early on the Lady
Cardinals. The Lady Cards went six more innings with no score on the
board. They just could not get the game going in their favor. The Lady Trojans scored again in the second and third innings to win the game 5-0. Yarbrough, Potts Camp’s pitcher, had two strikeouts. The
Potts Camp junior varsity took on the Lady Trojans first. The first
inning found the Lady Cards with no one scoring. They scored in the
second inning and again in the third. Brown pitched for the Potts Camp JV team with Briana Cheatwood behind the plate. The Lady Trojans scored eight runs in the first inning and five more in the second on the Lady Cardinals. The JV team tried really hard, but just couldn’t get the hits. Potts Camp fell 13-2. Brown had one strikeout from the pitcher’s circle. The
Lady Cardinals (6-6 overall) met the Hickory Flat Rebels Tuesday of
this week. It was the last division game for the season. They will play
Independence Thursday evening on “Senior Night.” The playoffs start Friday at a site to be determined.
