Student assault under investigation By SUE WATSON
An 18-year-old H.W. Byers High School student remains in critical, but stable, condition at The Med in Memphis, Tenn., as Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson tries to piece together evidence from a crime scene at 321 Hurdle Club Road. The investigation started with a pickup crash and continued at a house fire and at an adjacent lake. A call to 911 for medical help, at a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Hogan Road and Hurdle Club Road, alerted sheriff’s investigators that a crime may have been committed. It takes nearly a year for the Holly Springs Garden Club to think of new angles for the next year’s tour - what to emphasize, how to get the word out. By all accounts, the committee did a superb job of planning and executing last week’s 74th Pilgrimage and God took care of the rest by bringing perfect weather, said club representative Kathy Elgin. Her daughter Emma was queen this year.

John Porter, who has about 58 acres in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park area, was asked about green space or buffers he plans to place around the site. The rubbish site will accept construction waste and tree debris, but no household wastes or chemicals. Commission wants assessment on MI campus structure By SUE WATSON The Holly Springs Historic Preservation Commission has asked for an assessment of Catherine Hall’s structural stability while it waits to give permission to demolish the structure on the Mississippi Industrial College campus. The old campus is the property of Rust College. Tim Liddy, with the Preservation Commission, told the mayor and board of aldermen the Mississippi Landmark should be saved if possible.
