Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ Visitor
Education Center adjacent to Enid Lake will host a Kids’ Fish
Identification Program on Saturday, April 14, at 2 p.m. Young
anglers can learn how to identify the many different species of fish
found in Enid Lake and other lakes and ponds across the state. Josh
Howell will present this program. A Conservation Associate Fisheries
biologist from the MDWFP Fisheries Bureau, Howell works in the
northwest area of Mississippi including the four reservoirs operated by
the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The program is
free with price of admission. Admission is $2.50 for adults ages 18-59,
and $2 for youth ages 3-17 and adults over the age of 60. Those with

First United Methodist Church in Holly Springs is sponsoring its first
bicycle ride through Marshall County – a 65-mile trek over county roads. The
ride starts at the Holly Springs Motor Sports racetrack on Highway 7
South at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 5. Registration is $35 and includes a
meal, T-shirt (if registered by April 25) and supported rest stops
every 10 miles. Anyone who rides must sign a
liability waiver. Helmets are required and riders must be 18 years of
age unless accompanied by an adult. Applications
are available on the website, www.myfumc.info or can be obtained by
calling the church at 662-252-1439 or 662-252-7811. The ride is
sponsored by a number of local businesses. Ride
distance can be selected as either a 33-mile or 63-mile ride. Checks
should be made payable to The Ride and mailed to First United Methodist
Church, P.O. Box 147, Holly Springs, MS 38635 along with an application. Non-riders may join riders for lunch for a fee of $10 each.
