MA boys take first in meet

The Marshall Academy boys track team captured the top prize in its own Patriot Invitational Wednesday of last week.

MA, in its last meet before district competition next week, totaled 67 points. Placing second and third, respectively, were Magnolia Heights with 58 and West Memphis Christian with 56.

Varsity boys

• Long jump – second, Kevin Fitzpatrick, 19-6.5; fourth, Elgin Lafever, 17-1.

• Shot put – first, Josh Petree, 37-10.5.

• Triple jump – first, Kevin Fitzpatrick, 39-00; fourth, Andy Burleson, 33-5.5.

• Discus – first, Kirby Jones, 105-1; second, Neil Murphy, 91-5.

• High jump – second, Randy Love, 5-4; fourth, Neil Murphy, 5-2.

• 300 meter hurdles – third, Andy Burleson, 47.44.

• 800 meter relay – first, Lafever, Murphy, Love, Chase Ferrell, 1:39.83.

• 400 meter relay – second, Lafever, Murphy, Fitzpatrick, Ferrell, 46.57.

• 110 meter high hurdles – second, Burleson, 18.78.

• 100 meter dash – second, Lafever, 11.22.

• 400 meterdash – second, Love, 57.07.

• 200 meter dash – first, Lafever, 23.28.

Varsity Girls

• Long jump – third, Kat Moore, 12-8.5; fifth, Codie Robertson, 11-4.5.

• 300 meter hurdles – second, Wesleyann Ray, 54.22.

• 800 meter relay – first, Ray, Liz Walko, Elizabeth Skelton, Moore, 2:01.32.

• 400 meter relay – first, Ray, Walko, Skelton, Moore, 56.28.

• 100 meter hurdles – fourth, Ray, 20.36.

• 100 meter dash – fourth, Moore, 14.38.

• 200 meter dash – first, Walko, 29.45.

The District 1-AA junior high meet is Monday, April 16, at Lee Academy in Clarksdale. The varsity district meet is Wednesday, April 18 (field events), and Saturday, April 21 (running events), at Clarksdale.
