OpinionFielder’s Choice By Barry Burleson Newspaper clippings Last
year, due to a conflict, I did not get to participate in the
Mississippi Scholastic Press Association Spring Convention at Ole Miss. It was my first time to miss in a while. I thought organizer Beth Fitts might write me off. Full Story
Close to Nowhere By Linda Jones Pages of the past... I
love doing the Pages of the Past. I like reading the “50 Years Ago,”
the best. I can really get carried away following some of the stories. One
in particular that went on for several weeks was about a “Negro” who

The Preacher’s Corner By Rev. Dr. Milton Winter Getting ready for Pilgrimage weekend “Getting
ready for the Pilgrimage.” It is a phrase that is heard often in Holly

Pilgrimage.” Even projects that are not directly related to this event

with people since the days of Chaucer. Full Story

Volunteer Fire Department are asking everyone who is interested in
discussing ways we can come together as a community in an attempt to
obtain a satellite station in Slayden, and lower the rating in this
area. At the present time, we have a 10-C rating which causes higher
homeowner insurance premiums, and it makes it difficult to qualify for
homeowner insurance if you don’t already have an existing policy. Full Story
