The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals traveled to Calhoun City Monday, March 26, to play their second division game of the season. This
would be the very first time the Lady Cardinals and the Lady Wildcats
faced each other. The Lady Cardinals were excited and ready to go,
hoping to take home the victory. However, this was not going to be the
Lady Cardinals’ night. Nothing the Lady
Cardinals seemed to do was going in their favor. They could not get it
going in the batter’s box, and then when they took the field it was
much the same thing. Kayla Yarbrough took the mound, but with an injury to the shoulder, she was unable to pitch to her potential. Calhoun City won the game 14-0. The
junior varsity Lady Cardinals also took the field on the same night.

no luck. | | Megan Watkins delivers a pitch with a Bruce runner on second. |
Megan Watkins was the pitcher. She ended the game with three strikeouts. Calhoun City took a 10-0 victory. Potts Camp played its second division game of the week Thursday. The Lady Cardinals were hosting Bruce. With
big expectations after Monday’s loss, the Lady Cardinals were ready to
take on the Lady Trojans. Because of Yarbrough’s injury to her
pitching shoulder, she was unable to take control of the mound. This
left several of the Lady Cardinals playing different positions. Pitching for the Lady Cardinals was Watkins with Taylor Childress behind the plate. The
Lady Trojans started the first inning off with a four-run lead. When
the Lady Cardinals came up to bat it seemed as though it was a repeat
of the night before. The Lady Cardinals struggled from the plate. The
game went three innings with the Lady Cardinals falling 17-0. Next
the junior varsity Lady Cardinals took their turn with the Lady
Trojans. Kayla Brown was the pitcher for the first two innings with
Watkins behind the plate. Anna Summerlin finished the game off. The Lady Cardinals could not get the game going in their favor. Bruce won 11-0. Brown had two strikeouts. The
Lady Cardinals are hoping this week will find them in a winning zone.
Potts Camp was slated to take on Calhoun City Monday and Byhalia
Tuesday. They close out the week Saturday, April 7, when they face New
Site at home at 1 p.m.
