From sad to glad
I went from being stunned and saddened Monday of last week to being extremely happy on Friday – all concerning the same topic.
First, I received word March 26 that the Laurel Leader-Call was closing.

Vietnam Veterans Day
Did anyone (besides Bill Janssen and buddies at the VFW) know that it was Vietnam Veterans Day March 29? I didn’t.
A day or so before March 29, I got an email from my sister Jackie -- Barbara Walters on Jane Fonda. Barbara Walters does not like Jane Fonda and is upset that Fonda is being named one of the “100 Women of the Century.”

Oh, the aroma of linden trees in the spring
Last week, I wrote in this column about the linden trees that you see at various locations in Holly Springs. They were planted in the 19th century by Mayor Henry E. Williamson. You can still see them in the yard at “Linden Terrace,” across from the Marshall County Historical Museum.
