Cardinals drop district game
By BARRY BURLESON
Potts Camp had a quiet night at the plate when district opponent Calhoun City visited Tuesday, March 27.
The Cardinals managed just two hits in a 14-2 loss to the Wildcats in Region 2-2A play. Meanwhile, the visitors connected for 11 hits.
“It was one of those nights where the other team hits the ball well and you just have to take one on the chin,” coach Justin Weeden said.
The game lasted just five innings, due to the 10-run rule. The Wildcats scored nine of their runs in the top of the second.
Jesse Shaw took the mound loss for Potts Camp, which dropped to 1-2 in the district and 5-3 overall.
Raheem Roberson was the winning pitcher for Calhoun City, which improved to 11-6.
Next Tuesday, April 10, the Cards go to Bruce for a 4:30 junior varsity game followed by a 6:30 varsity matchup.
