basketball team. It was published in the Saturday edition of The
Clarion-Ledger, based in Jackson. Full Story
Patriots pound district rival By BARRY BURLESON Editor Marshall Academy made an unexpected road trip Tuesday of last week. But it worked out just fine. The

March 20 for a single game and travel to the Delta two days later for a
doubleheader. Instead, the twinbill at Indianola was shifted to
Tuesday. The third game in the series, which will be played at

Behind the Scoreboard Claude Vinson Still going with Wildcats Is
it just me or has the current NCAA tournament taken on the appearance
of a whirlwind? Seems like only yesterday that the games had just begun
and now already we have reached the Final Four. How many of us have
suffered the attendant malady of “bracket fever?” You know the itch to
try and keep up with every game and the representatives from your
favorite conference. Last season (2011) the SEC had a bit more to brag
about because we had five teams (Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia,
Florida and Kentucky) in the hunt. In 2012 we only had three dogs in
the fight (Vanderbilt, Florida and Kentucky). And history repeated
itself this season – the SEC entered the “Elite Eight” with two
(Florida and Kentucky). Alas, alackaday, the SEC enters the Final Four
with just one rep, same as last season. And that one rep is Kentucky,
same as last year. Full Story

 | Attended Super Bowl XLVI
A
local who made the trip to Indianapolis, Ind., to witness Eli Manning
and the Giants denying the Patriots in SB XLVI was Boris Davis
(pictured in front of the family store on the corner of Highway 4 and
S. Red Banks Road). Davis, of Davis and Sons Grocery in Chulahoma, said
he had already developed a “bucket list” and making it to a Super Bowl
was at the top of the list. Davis said it was indeed an unmatchable
experience but “it is expensive, so one thinking of taking the trek
should plan early.” When asked if he would make a return trip, he said,
“Probably not.” |
