Lacy Ivy

Lacy Ivy, 90, of Potts Camp, died March 25, 2012, at his home. He was the widower of Darsie Bell Ivy. He was Pentecostal and a retired farmer.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 27 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Chewalla Cemetery in Potts Camp. Bro. Jonathan Vasquez and Bro. Steve Wilson officiated.

He leaves his wife, Melenia Ivy; a son, Tommy Ivy (Dana) of Talbott, Tenn.; two daughters, Deborah Ivy of Potts Camp, Madean Ivy of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ganus Gadd, Steve Gadd, Clifton Gadd, George Dickey, Ricky Gadd, Wayne Stoker, Charles Thomas and Raymond Gadd.

James Daryl Fitch

James Daryl Fitch, 45, of Marshall County, died March 21, 2012, at Baptist Oxford Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Springs and a car salesman.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 25 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery.

He leaves his mother, Rose Fitch of Holly Springs; two sons, Tyler Fitch of Holly Springs, Drew Fitch of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Stephanie Nygaard of Las Vegas; a brother, Bo Fitch of Pickwick Dam, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Anna Morrison

Anna Maria Remedios Garcia Morrison, 58, of Holly Springs, died March 20, 2012, at Methodist Germantown Hospital. She was past president of Town and Country Garden Club of Holly Springs.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on March 24 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Collierville, Tenn., where she was a member. Burial was in Memory Hill Gardens in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Family Funeral Care was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband of 39 years, Terry H. Morrison; a daughter, Cinderella Elaine Tollefsen of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Terry P. Morrison of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters, Carmen Garcia Avary of Franklin, Tenn., Mary Ramona Garcia Stubbs; four brothers, David R. Garcia, Marcelino (Marty) Garcia, Joseph F. Garcia, all of Albuquerque, N.M., Richard Ted Garcia of Tucson, Az.; her parents, David and Carmen Garcia; and six grandchildren.

V.L. Glover Turnage

V.L. Glover Turnage, 86, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died Feb. 12, 2012. She was the widow of Josephus Turnage. She was a member of Mt. Teamer CME Church.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Feb. 18 at Greater Love MB Church. Rev. John Nabors officiated. James Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves five sons, James (Zelma), Raymond (Toni), Joe, Hubert (Mary), Elton (Virginia), all of Aurora; siblings Sherman (Berniece) Glover, Fred (Ella) Glover, both of Holly Springs, Mollie Robinson of Memphis, Tenn.; 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Percy Turnage; three grandchildren; and six brothers, James, A.T., Henry, Simon, Willie B. and Spencer Glover Jr.

Ruby Lee Bean Johnson

Ruby Lee Bean Johnson, 79, of Holly Springs, died March 19, 2012, at Baptist Hospital-North MS in Oxford. She was the widow of Frank Johnson Jr.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on March 24 at South Ashland Church of Christ, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. William Colburn officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two daughters, Casynette Hoyle of Michigan City, Deborah Flemming of Holly Springs; eight sons, Freddie B. Johnson, Trence Johnson, Larry Johnson, Dwight Johnson, all of Ashland, Frank Howard Johnson of Memphis, Tenn., Ellis Johnson, Rickey Johnson, Sylvester Mark Johnson, all of Holly Springs; three sisters, Vellar B. Smith, Clencia Mae Neal, both of Memphis, Mary Williams of Houston, Tex.; 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings Dorothy Armstrong, Clara Jones, Andrew Bean and Franklin Bean.

DeMarcus Raphel Nevels

DeMarcus Raphel Nevels, 34, of Holly Springs, died March 18, 2012, in Holly Springs. He was a member of Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks and a factory worker with Excel.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on March 24 at New Dimension Salt & Light Ministry in Holly Springs. Burial was in Pleasant Grove MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Joe T. Lester officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, DeMarques Terrel Nevels of Olive Branch; his mother, Dorothy Stewart Nevels of Holly Springs; his father, Clyde Nevels of Holly Springs; a sister, Jennifer Hibler of Holly Springs; four brothers, Leon Davis, Cedric Nevels, Clevin Nevels, Christopher Nevels, all of Holly Springs.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Antonio Nevels.

Roderick Tennell Pitts

Roderick Tennell Pitts, 37, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Waterford, died March 16, 2012, at Kindred Chicago Central Hospital in Chicago. He was a graduate of Potts Camp High School, University of Memphis, a member of Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn., and a film maker, business owner of Pit Stop Productions.

Services were held on March 23 at Springhill MB Church in Waterford. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. L.G. Bogard officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his mother, Johnnie Maebell Pitts of Memphis; and a child, Noah Pitts of Memphis.

Marjorie Jones Roach

Marjorie Jones Roach, 89, of Ashland, died March 24, 2012, at her home. She was the widow of Luther Thomas Roach and a nurse.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on March 26 at Ashland Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Dr. Gerald Hodges officiated.

She leaves two daughters, Margie Roach Farese of Ashland, Patsy Roach Webb (Bill) of Hurst, Tx.; four grandchildren, Tammy Earwood, Tony Farese, Alison Thomas, Amy Webb McFadin; and seven great-grandchildren.

Zalie Mae Hamer Washington

Zalie Mae Hamer Washington, 73, of Ashland, died March 19, 2012, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was a member of Harris Chapel MB Church in Ashland, first lady of Upper Salem MB Church, Mississippi Education Association, Who’s Who Among American Teachers, NAACP Life Member and a retired school teacher with Benton County Schools.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on March 25 at Ashland High School gymnasium. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Rev. Martin L. Bowers, pastor of Friendship MB Church in Brownsville, Tenn., officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Rev. Walter A. Washington; five children, Rev. Patrick (Vicki) Washington of Ashland, pastor Roger (Callye) Price of Beaumont, Calif., Walter (Rhonda) Washington Jr. of Vallejo, Calif., Brenda (Eldridge) Boga of Ashland, Linda (Phillip) Iweze of Columbia, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two children, Sharon Price and Joey Price.
