MA hosts first meet of season

Rain shortened Marshall Academy’s opening track meet of the season last week.

Several individual ribbons were awarded to MA athletes Wednesday afternoon, March 21, prior to the arrival of the showers in Holly Springs.

Varsity Boys

• 400 meter relay – first place, Neil Murphy, Elgin Lafever, Kevin Fitzpatrick, Chase Ferrell, 47.72.

• 800 meter relay – second place, Murphy, Lafever, Fitzpatrick, Ferrell, 1:40.76.

• 300 meter hurdles – third, Andy Burleson, 47.52.

• Triple jump – second, Fitzpatrick, 39-1; fourth, Burleson, 35-0.

• Discus – fifth, Murphy – 72-6.

• Shot put – third, Josh Petree, 37-7; fourth, Kirby Jones, 36-4.

• High jump – fourth, Randy Love, 5-2.

Varsity Girls

• 400 meter relay – third, Wesleyann Ray, Liz Walko, Elizabeth Skelton, Kat Moore, 57.29.

• 800 meter relay – second, Ray, Walko, Skelton, Moore, 2:04.54.

• 300 meter hurdles – second, Ray, 57.07.

• Long jump – second, Moore, 13-10.5.

• High jump – fifth, Skelton, 4-4.

Junior High Boys

• 400 meter relay – second, Thomas Faulkenbery, Wesley Bolden, Tucker Fant, Devin McGreger, 52.55.

• 3200 meter relay – fourth, Tyler Bolden, Grant Poteet, Boyce McKinney, Ryan Brock – 12:08.

• 800 meter relay – third, Faulkenbery, Wesley Bolden, Fant, McGreger, 1:50.28.

• Triple jump – fifth, Boyce McKinney, 30-3.

• Long jump – third, McGreger, 16-5.

Marshall Academy will host another track meet Wednesday of this week and the following Wednesday, April 4, both starting at 1 p.m.
