Alverna
Jimmerson Crawford, 89, of Lamar, died March 14, 2012, at Methodist
Hospital-North in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Jessie Crawford.
She was a member of the church mother’s board, former choir member and
usher, Greenwood Chapter 58-A Order of Eastern Star and retired cook
with UCAC Headstart Program (2001). Services were
held at 1 p.m. on March 19 at Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland, where
she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph Davis
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves six daughters, Emma Jean
Williams, Jimmie Jessie Crawford, Maxine Nunnally, Devora Moore, Sarah
Johnson, Patricia Cowan, all of Memphis; three sons, Clyde Crawford,
Frank Crawford, both of Memphis, minister Ray Crawford of Olive Branch;
25 grandchildren 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Coopwood and Laura Watkins. Melvin Q. Gresham

Q. Gresham, 89, of Ashland, died March 16, 2012, at his home. He was
the widower of Norma Akin Gresham. He was an Army veteran of World War
II. He was a deacon and lifelong member of Ashland Baptist Church. Services
were held at 3 p.m. on March 18 at Ashland Baptist Church. Burial was
in Ashland Cemetery. Bro. Randy Smith and Dr. Gerald Hodges officiated.

A. Heckmann, 67, of Holly Springs, died March 16, 2012, at Alliance
HealthCare System in Holly Springs. She was a Christian and manager of
Fin’s Bar and Grill. Memorial services, conducted
by family, will be held at 1 p.m. on March 25 at Fin’s Bar and Grill.

leaves a son, William Sharp IV of Holly Springs; two brothers, Larry

Charles Raleigh Heflin Jr., 47, died March 10, 2012. Memorial

Chapel. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at Northridge

Beverly Heflin of Drummonds, Tenn.; stepfather, Ray Beasley of Hickory
Flat; siblings David Heflin (Peggy) of Covington, Tenn., Christopher
Heflin (Nikki) of Atoka, Tenn., Amanda Hill (Rick) of Olive Branch; and

Denise Williams Jeffries, 52, of Red Banks, died March 13, 2012, at
Baptist Hospital in Collierville, Tenn. She was the widow of Herman Lee
Jeffries. She was a member of her church choir, a member of the
stewardess board and a member of the pastor’s aide committee. Services
were held at 1 p.m. on March 18 at Pleasant Hill CME Church, where she
was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Willie Hoey

Johnson Jr., 85, of Ashland, died March 8, 2012, at Ashland Health and
Rehab in Ashland. A retired laborer for Holly Springs Brick and Tile,
he was a World War II Army veteran. Services were
held at 10:30 a.m., March 17 at Greenwood MB Church in Lamar, where he

Jean Lucas, 56, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Red Banks, died March
16, 2012, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She was a former employee of
Johnson Cleaning Company. Services will be held
at 11 a.m. on March 24 at Pleasant Grove MB Church in Red Banks, where
she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. S.A.

Beverly Pasco, 64, died March 10, 2012. She was the widow of Roy Pasco, her husband of 43 years. Services

HealthCare System. She was the widow of J.C. Pegues. She was a
caregiver in private homes. Services were held

Dale Rhea, 49, of Myrtle, died March 16, 2012, at Methodist University
Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Cynthia Rene Mormon
Rhea. He was a member of Keownville Baptist Church and a construction

Paulette Whaley, 59, died Feb. 29, 2012. She was employed with Universal Life Insurance Company for more than 20 years. Services

Joe
F. Williams, 84, of McKenzie, Tenn., died March 17 at Jackson-Madison
County Hospital. He earned a football scholarship to the University of
Kentucky, where he roomed with teammate George Blanda. He entered the
U.S. Navy in December, 1946. He was a teacher, coach, principal and
superintendent at Holly Springs Schools from 1951 to 1969. He retired
from the McKenzie School System in 1995. He was active in civic and
education organizations. Services were held at 11
a.m., March 20, at First United Methodist Church in McKenzie. Brummitt
Funeral Home of McKenzie was in charge of arrangements. He
leaves his wife of 58 years, Elaine Seale Williams; a son, Joe Jr.,
(Kathy) Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Mary Elaine Brown of
McKenzie, Laura Lei Williams of Ocala, Fla.; a sister, Mary Margaret
Joyce of Milan, Tenn.; four grandchildren and four great-granddaughters. Victoria Mae and Jeremiah DeWayne Wright Victoria Mae and Jeremiah DeWayne Wright, infant twins, died March 9, 2012. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. on March 15 at Forest Hill South Cemetery. They leave their parents, Elizabeth Harris of Byhalia and Melvin Wright of Olive Branch.
