MA starts 2-0 in district

Carroll Academy batters could muster just two hits in 12 innings versus Marshall Academy pitching last week.
Aaron McAlexander and Evan Hickman each threw one-hitters against the Rebels in 10-0 and 11-1 wins to start District 1-AA play.
Lions down Hawks

County rivals, the Holly Springs Hawks and the H.W. Byers Lions, collided on the baseball diamond Tuesday night, March 6, at Sam Coopwood Park.
The Lions jumped ahead for good in the first inning.
Martin picked for North-South game

Justice Martin is keeping an H.W. Byers basketball tradition going.
The junior was chosen to play in the Mississippi North-South All-Star Basketball Game on July 10 at Mississippi College in Clinton.
BMC wins at Kirkwood
Adam Hall fired a two-over-par 74 at Kirkwood National Golf Club Thursday to lead Blue Mountain College to a three-shot win in a three-team match against Ashford (Iowa) and Aurora (Illinois) universities.
Hall, who got off to a shaky start, went 2-3 on the par-three fourth hole and the par-five fifth hole, then birdied the 15th and 18th holes – the last one in a heavy downpour – for his 39-35-74 and medalist honors.
Rodeo set for March 24
The Deep South Championship Rodeo comes to the Marshall County Fairgrounds on Saturday, March 24, at 7 p.m.
Ticket prices for the big event, produced by J Bar B Rodeo Co., are adults $8, children $6 and ages 3 and under free. For more information, call Jerry Bolden at 252-4634 or 551-0475.
Soccer registration Saturday
Children ages 5 to 15 can sign up for spring soccer at BridgeWay Baptist Church, 107 Taska Road, Mt. Pleasant, on March 17 from noon until 2 p.m. The cost is $35 per child.
The church is located between First State Bank and Dollar General store.
Volunteer coaches and referees are also needed.
Lady Cards blank Wildcats
Tuesday afternoon of last week found the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals taking on the Independence Lady Wildcats at Independence.
The Lady Cardinals played two games – junior varsity and varsity. This was the junior varsity’s first game of the year. The game went three innings with the score Potts Camp 10 and Independence 10.
