Lady Cards blank Wildcats
Tuesday afternoon of last week found the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals taking on the Independence Lady Wildcats at Independence.
The Lady Cardinals played two games – junior varsity and varsity. This was the junior varsity’s first game of the year. The game went three innings with the score Potts Camp 10 and Independence 10.
Starting pitcher for the junior varsity Lady Cards was Kayla Brown. Finishing the game from the circle was Megan Watkins. Catcher for the Lady Cardinals was Taylor Childress. Scoring for the Lady Cardinals were Lakin Tillman, Kamrie Potts, Brown, Childress, Kaylin Skelton, Brianna Cheatwood and Hayden Wilkerson.
The Potts Camp varsity team also faced the Independence Lady Wildcats. Both teams were eager and ready to go.
With the Lady Cardinals batting first, the scoring started right away, as they scored two runs. After holding the Lady Wildcats for five innings, the Lady Cards claimed the victory. The final score was 14-0.
Pitching for the Lady Cardinals was Kayla Yarbrough. Catching for the Lady Cardinals was Watkins. Yarbrough ended the game with 12 strikeouts. Those scoring for the Lady Cardinals were Watkins, Yarbrough, Hayley Davis, Childress, Brown, Destiny Waddle and Shauna Haney.
The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals will take the week off for spring break. Their next game will be Tuesday, March 20, versus Ingomar at home. Then on Friday, March 23, the Lady Cards will go to Hickory Flat.
The Lady Cardinals have a record of 2-0.
