Adam Hall fired a
two-over-par 74 at Kirkwood National Golf Club Thursday to lead Blue
Mountain College to a three-shot win in a three-team match against
Ashford (Iowa) and Aurora (Illinois) universities. Hall,
who got off to a shaky start, went 2-3 on the par-three fourth hole and
the par-five fifth hole, then birdied the 15th and 18th holes – the
last one in a heavy downpour – for his 39-35-74 and medalist honors. Hall
and Ashford’s Chien Hau Tan (38-39--77) were the only two players to
break 80 over the 6,875-yard Kirkwood National course, played in winds
that gusted in excess of 25 miles per hour. | | Michael Collie of Blue Mountain tees off. |
BMC’s
Brandon Robbins shot an 80 to finish third and Tanner Sparks shot an 81
to finish fourth. Grant Burns had an 86 and Michael Collie had an 87. Blue Mountain’s 321 was good enough to edge Ashford (324) and coast past Aurora (351). In women’s individual play, BMC’s Allie Newby had a 107 and Taylor Gilchrist shot an uncharacteristic 127. Team scores (Top 10 in parentheses) Blue
