One
might say that arguably the Lady Cougars of Coldwater and the Lady
Lions of H.W. Byers are two of the best teams in all the state in girls
basketball. One could certainly narrow that down and say they are by
far the best teams in Class 1A. Both their seasons had been building to
this final crescendo which was struck in “The Big House” on March 2. Full Story

AA Marshall fell to Class AAA Prep by five Saturday afternoon in the
Overall Basketball Tournament championship game at Mississippi College

Quest for Gold Balls in ‘Big House’ By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor “There

less chilling but most exciting is the wonderful time in secondary
school athletics when teams come from across Mississippi and finally
bring to an end in the Big House their quests for the golden orbs. Full Story
Tourney winners announced The
Mid-South Jr. Bass Club held its first tournament of the 2012
season Saturday, March 3, on Bay Spring Lake near Booneville. There were 18 adult/youth teams competing for top honors in the tournament. Full Story
Soccer registration set for March 17 at BridgeWay Children
ages 5 to 15 can sign up for spring soccer at BridgeWay Baptist Church,
107 Taska Road, Mt. Pleasant, on March 17 from noon until 2 p.m. The
cost is $35 per child. The church is located between First State Bank and Dollar General store. Volunteer coaches and referees are also needed. |
