slavery to freedom was the theme of the Black History program at Holy
Family School in February. Students, as always, contributed heavily to
the program by singing, dancing, playing musical instruments and
reading passages and poems. Alumni, family and friends joined in to
make the celebration a happy occasion. Orlando Parham, music
instructor, choreographed the dance and drumming show and led the
eighth grade choir. Wearing traditional African American dress,
headmaster Clara Isom led some songs. All grades participated.
Dignitaries with Sacred Heart Southern Mission were on hand to enjoy
the occasion. (Top) Kindergarten teacher Sherry Rayford sits with Jaslyn Kahn and Katherine Chishom. (Middle) Enjoying the program are, from left, Eloise Finley, Vanderlois S. King and Minnie P. Scott. (Bottom) The African Dance and Drum team performs.
