Marshall Academy teams visited Tate County last week and faced mostly DeSoto County opposition. The
Patriots finished third in the Magnolia Heights Classic at Senatobia –
beating Lewisburg, losing to DeSoto Central and defeating Hernando, all

Behind The Scoreboard By Claude Vinson Playoffs (Editor’s Note – This column was written Saturday, Dec. 31, to meet early newspaper deadlines due to the New Year’s holiday.) We
are already into the final week of the regular season in the NFL and
there is still a scramble for the cream to rise to the top. As of
December 28, there were still three division titles up for grabs and
one wildcard spot. All the teams with the best records had already

Lady Cards go 1-2 in tight games By BARRY BURLESON Editor Close games were common for the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals last week. In holiday tournaments, they won by three and then lost a pair of games by two and three. The
Potts Camp girls came up with the big steals and buckets in the fourth
quarter to beat the host team 43-40 December 27 in the Alcorn Central

Holly High players named all-district Several Holly Springs High School football players were recognized on the All-District Team for the 2011 season. Four
Hawks made the Region 1-3A “Super 22.” Those are linebacker Shaquille
Faulkner, defensive lineman Tyjae Jones, punter Michael Garrett and

Byers Lions drop two By BARRY BURLESON Editor The H.W. Byers Lions lost their two games last week in the Coldwater Christmas Tournament. Byers fell 61-59 Tuesday, Dec. 27, to Independence after trailing 33-27 at the half. Anthony Mabon had a game-high 20 points for the Lions. Jarvis Jones followed with 14.
