Others qualify
to run for county offices
Some
more local candidates have qualified to run in political races since
the publishing of last week’s newspaper.
Joining
the race for coroner are Billy Ray Autry and Gary Wayne Teel. Seeking
the superintendent of education position is Michael E. (Mike) Hamblin.
Running for tax assessor is Clista Ash. Seeking the supervisor,
District 3, job is Terry Rodgers. Joining the race for supervisor,
District 5, are Clay Byers, Evelyn Curry Elliott and Steve Wilson.
The
deadline for qualifying for county elections was Tuesday, March 1. A
complete list will be included in next week’s newspapers.
The
primary election is Tuesday, August 2. The runoff election is Tuesday,
Aug. 23. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Profile Edition
will be published next week
The
South Reporter will publish its annual Profile Edition next Thursday,
March 10. It is titled – “Marshall County Faces and Places.”
Extra
copies will be given to the Byhalia and Holly Springs chambers of
commerce, the Holly Springs Tourism Bureau, Holly Springs Main Street
and the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority for
distribution throughout the year.

County school
board to meet next Tuesday
The
Marshall County School Board will meet for its Tuesday, March 8, board
meeting at Galena School.
The
school is located at 4202 Highway 4 West. The meeting starts at 5 p.m.
Meeting Monday
in Bethlehem community
Brandon
Presley, public service commissioner for the Northern District, will be
in the Bethlehem community of Marshall County next week to discuss poor
cellular telephone service.
The
meeting,
regarding the Mississippi Public Service Commission’s “Zap the Gap”
program is set for Monday, March 7, from 6 p.m to 7 p.m. at the
Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ at 49 Overton School Road.
Business After
Hours next Tuesday at JB’s
The
Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce announces “Mardi Gras” Business After
Hours.
It
will be held Fat Tuesday, March 8, at JB’s on the Square beginning at 5
p.m.
