Community Foundation unveils healthy living plan for Marshall residents
Peggy Linton with The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi presented its Marshall County Healthy Community Strategic Plan at the Beckley Center on Tuesday, Feb 22.
The plan was the outcome of the Marshall County Planning Charrette held in Hernando on December 2, 2010, where 12 representatives from Marshall County attended the training session facilitated by The Bouchillon Institute. Commissioners, elected officials and staff in Tate, DeSoto, and Marshall counties were invited to help with designing communities that provide options for healthy living.
At the meeting on Tuesday, they also provided Byhalia and Holly Springs with satellite maps of their towns that include markers where active and healthy living assets are located, such as walking trails and fresh produce stands.
“Holly Springs is happy to partner with the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi on the Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities initiative. It’s just one more way the Chamber and Main Street can make Holly Springs a better place to live,” said Rebecca Bourgeois, Holly Springs Main Street executive director.
“The maps will be available for viewing at the Chamber of Commerce office.”
