Cardinals defeat Falkner in opener

The Potts Camp Cardinals defeated Falkner and lost to Wheeler on opening weekend of their 2011 baseball season.
The Cardinals swung some hot bats in game one of the campaign Friday. They had 16 hits in a 12-3 win over Falkner.
Top hitters were Sawyer Goode with four (two doubles), Josh Hailey with four (three doubles) and Zach Mayer with three (a triple and a double).
Ben Bolden started on the mound, pitched a couple of innings and got the win for Potts Camp.
Falkner had only three hits in the game.
Each team committed three errors.
Five of the Cardinals’ 12 runs were scored in the third inning.
On Saturday evening, Potts Camp could muster just one run on four hits in a 4-1 loss to Wheeler.
Bolden took the mound loss.
Hunter Joyner was the only Cardinal with multiple hits.
Wheeler, which connected for eight hits in the win, scored two runs in the third and two in the fourth. Potts Camp’s lone run came in the third.
Each team made two errors.
The Cardinals visit Pine Grove Friday at 5 p.m. Next Tuesday, March 8, they host Wheeler at 5 p.m.
