There’s a new
king in Class AA basketball.
The
Marshall Academy Patriots blasted Bowling Green in round one of the
state tournament last week, dethroned host Brookhaven Academy (owners
of six straight state championships) in the semi-finals and then downed
Simpson Academy for the championship.

Lady Lions win north, advance to state By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The H.W. Byers Lady Lions swept through Class 1A North Half competition last week for the championship. After
the satellite game played at the Lions’ Den in which they eliminated
Falkner, the Lady Lions drew the Coffeeville Lady Pirates in the second

Brewer each hit inside-the-park home runs as Northwest cruised to a
pair of 15-0, run-rule wins over Arkansas Baptist in the 2011 opener at

Rossville hires coach Rossville Christian Academy announces the hiring of Johnny Allen as the school’s new head football coach. Allen
is currently the defensive coordinator at Briarcrest Christian. Prior
to his stint at BCS he served in the same capacity at White Station.
Allen follows Perry Bailey, who will continue at RCA in his duties of

Myrtle Hawks scored on a last-second putback Friday night and
eliminated fellow Region 2-1A member Byers 69-68 in the north half

Holly Springs Hawks had the tall task of beating Corinth on its home

Byhalia Lady Indians gave Pontotoc all it could handle on the Lady
Warriors’ home court Friday night in the Class 4A North State
