Indians, Cardinals fall in first round of north

Two Marshall County teams were ousted from north half competition in the first round Tuesday, Feb. 15.
Byhalia lost at Shannon, while Potts Camp fell at home to Falkner.
The Indians of coach Donald Bryant fought hard on the road but came up short, 84-73, versus the Red Raiders.
Shannon led 21-15 following the first period of Class 3A play. Byhalia cut its deficit to 40-36 at the break.
The Indians actually tied the game once in the third but trailed by five at the end of the quarter.
Shannon then outscored Byhalia 26-20 in the fourth.
Leading the Indians, who finished with a 13-15 record, were Courtney Warren with 28, Kenyatta Jones with 20 and Jamerson Euell with 16.
The Potts Camp Cardinals dropped a 58-52 decision to Falkner in the first round of Class 1A North State.
The Cards led by three after one quarter but got outscored 20-9 in the second period. They trailed 40-37 following three.
Allen Robinson led the offense with 18 points. Javaughn Jones was next with 16.
Potts Camp, led by first-year head coach Shaun Holtz, ended its season with a 10-19 record.
