Byhalia teams second, third in district By BARRY BURLESON Editor The
Byhalia Lady Indians and Indians wrapped up Region 2-4A Tournament play
Monday night at Center Hill with second- and third-place finishes. The tournament’s finish was delayed due to last week’s snow and ice. The
girls moved on to host Tishomingo County Tuesday night in the opening
round of the North 4A Tournament. The boys visited Shannon Tuesday
night to start north competition. With wins, they advance to Thursday. Jamerson
Euell scored a career high 24 points in the Indians’ 82-66 victory over
Center Hill in the district tourney consolation matchup. He also pulled
down 11 rebounds. Kenyatta Jones added 20 points,
including six threes. Courtney Warren contributed 17 points, eight
rebounds and five assists. Jamal Jones had 14 points, seven assists and
two steals. The Lady Indians dropped a 70-43 decision to Lafayette in the district tournament title contest. The Lady Commodores outscored Byhalia 25-5 in the second quarter. Top point producers for the Lady Indians were Erica Bougard with 12, Megan Rayford with 10 and Shandricka Sessom with eight. The Lady Indians entered north half play Tuesday with a 20-7 record, while the Indians stood 13-14. |
