Marshall
County teams are playing in various tournaments this week, plus H.W.
Byers and Holly Springs will collide in a regular season game Friday. The
Potts Camp Lady Cardinals are playing in the O-Town Showdown at Oxford
this week. They will face Lafayette Wednesday, Dec. 28, at 4 p.m., and
Independence Thursday, Dec. 29, at 1 p.m. Both
Holly High squads participated in the Alcorn Central Holiday Hoops
Tournament Tuesday of this week – the boys battled Cordova (Tenn.) and
the girls met Tupelo Christian Preparatory School. The
Holly Springs boys and girls will play in the Kiwanis Christmas Classic
at Booneville Thursday. The Lady Hawks go against Houston at 4 p.m. at
Northeast Community College, and the Hawks will face North Pontotoc at
7 p.m. at Booneville High School. The Holly High teams will then invade county rival H.W. Byers this Friday night, Dec. 30. “Our
defense is not as solid as I want it to be,” said Naylond Hayes, head
coach of the Hawks, who are 11-3. “We have some new people, and we’re
still trying to get it together.” Holly High’s first district game is Friday, Jan. 13, at home versus Belmont. The
Byhalia Lady Indians are playing in the Collierville (Tenn.) Classic
this week. They met the host school Tuesday night and will continue
play this week with game-times depending on the outcome of the round
one contest. The Byhalia Indians will play in the
Fayette-Ware (Tenn.) Classic December 29-30. They will go against the
host school Thursday at 7 p.m. and then collide with Haywood County
(Tenn). Friday at 5:30 p.m. Next Tuesday night,
Jan. 3, the Potts Camp Lady Cardinals and Cardinals host Hickory Flat,
the Byhalia Lady Indians and Indians host Charleston and the Holly
Springs Lady Hawks and Hawks travel to Olive Branch.
