 | Pritchett wins Gulf Coast tournament
Zack
Pritchett, along with Tyler Berry who caddied for him, went down to
Gulf Shores, Ala., on December 17-18 to play in the AJGT Gulf Coast
Championship with a field of 18 top junior golfers from along the
coast. The weather played a big part in this tournament with 20- to
25-mile-an-hour winds and cool temperatures in the mornings, but
warming up after. The first nine players really had to be on their game
with total concentration. Pritchett, on the first day, shot a 76 which
gave him the lead by one stroke and paired in the final group. On the
final day he double-bogeyed the first hole and his opponent made a par,
and that put them at even. At one time Pritchett was down by two
strokes but he kept on battling and made a couple of birdies and made
some pars. When his opponent bogeyed, he gained the lead with five
holes to play. He was up by three strokes. The pin placements were set
up the final day in some really tough places, but Pritchett battled and
kept on playing his game and finished up shooting a 78 with a final
two-day total of 154, winning by one stroke. He is a junior at Marshall
Academy in Holly Springs. |
