C. Golf, 69, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 4, 2011. He joined Anderson
Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs and Philips Temple CME Church in
Dayton, Ohio. He graduated from Lane College in Jackson, Tenn., with a
degree in chemistry. He was a former employee of the General Motors
Corporation, the Dayton Daily News and the University of Cincinnati,
and was a member of the American Legion Post 328. He was a member of
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He was a veteran of the United States Air
Force, stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio. A
memorial service was held at 12 noon on Dec. 13 at H.H. Roberts Funeral
Home Chapel, Dayton, Ohio. Burial was in National Cemetery in Memphis,
Tenn. Rev. Settle Townsend officiated. He
leaves his daughter, Letitia Golf (Rev. Roderick) Evans; his mother,
Helen (Cox) Hiler; sisters Rothenia Collins Walton of Holly Springs,
Mabel Golf, Naomi Golf, both of New York; his former wife, Birdie Golf;
stepsons James E. Dukes IV (Ruby), Philip Dukes, Ron Dukes (Gabrielle);
five grandchildren; and longtime family friend, Bernard Foster. Bobby C. Hamblin Bobby
C. Hamblin, 67, of Calhoun City, died Nov. 7, 2011, at Baptist Hospital
in Oxford. He was a 1962 graduate of Bruce High School, a graduate of
Itawamba Community College and University of MS with a BA. He was
retired from the public school system in Calhoun County. He was a
cattleman and member of Cattleman’s Association. Services
were held at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 10 at Parker Memorial Funeral Home
Chapel in Bruce. Burial was in Oak Springs Cemetery. Pastor Fish
Robinson officiated. He leaves two daughters,
Paula (John) Lorenz of Greenbrier, Ark., Tracey Wayne of Bruce; a son,
Robert S. (Samantha) Hamblin of Oxford; two brothers, Mike Hamblin of

Lillian
Louise Hollowell Davis, 70, died Dec. 8, 2011. After graduating from
Holly Springs School System, she moved to Memphis, Tenn., where she
lived until her health began to fail. She then moved back to Holly
Springs. She was employed with Army Depot in Memphis for more than 20
years, from which she retired. She was also employed with Methodist
Hospital in Memphis. Graveside services were held at Walton Chapel CME Church Cemetery in Waterford. She
leaves a daughter, Rosalind Jackson of Holly Springs; two sisters,
Birdie Mae Stone, Mary Juanita Falkner, both of Holly Springs; two
brothers, Sylvester (Fourboy) Hollowell, Michael (Rose) Poe, both of
Holly Springs; a half-brother, Roosevelt (Martha) Galloway of Holly
Springs; a half-sister, Mattie Hopkins of Holly Springs; and two
grandchildren. Pallbearers were Silvester
Hollowell, James McNeil, Clyde Brown, Chatal J. Hollowell, Gregory
Evans and Dwayne Cornelius. Honorary pallbearers were Sylvester

Ruth Miller, 76, of Michigan City, died Dec. 15, 2011, at Trinity
Mission. She was the widow of Lamar Miller, a member of Hickory Grove
Baptist Church and a retired seamstress. Services

Willingham, 53, of Hernando, died Dec. 14, 2011. She was a graduate of
Southwest Texas State University. She retired as senior master sergeant
from the Air Force after 24 years. She served in Guam, at Langley AFB,
Va., Randolph AFB, Tx., Norton, AFB, Calif., and with the 920th/301st
Combat Rescue Squadron, Patrick AFB, Fla. She was a Desert Storm
veteran. She served area youth as a soccer, baseball and basketball
coach. She was president of the Hernando Middle School PTO, a
substitute teacher and school volunteer. Memorial
plans are tentatively set for Jan. 14 at Hernando Presbyterian Church.

Burial was in Roberts Chapel Cemetery in Coldwater. Rodgers Funeral

leaves his daughter, Khanance Royster of Memphis; his son, Khasantre’
Royster of Memphis; his mother, Dorothy Greenwood-Watkins of Hernando;
his sister, Mamie Watkins of Robinsonville; and two brothers, James
Watkins, Anthony Wooten, both of Memphis. Hattie Mae Turner Yancey
Hattie
Mae Turner Yancey, 87, of Lamar, died Dec. 17, 2011 at Baptist Hospital
in Oxford. The widow of Willie Yancy Jr., she was on the Mother Board
and a church usher. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Dec. 21 from 3-6 p.m. and at the church on Dec. 22 from 12 noon until 12:55 p.m. Services
will be held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 22 at Palestine MB Church in Michigan
City, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Rev. James Williams will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements. She leaves five
children, Dorothy Ann Morgan, Alberta Hoyle, both of Lamar, Maxine
DeBerry of Holly Springs, Elaine Phelps, Katie Gibson, both of Memphis,
Tenn.; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 13
great-great-grandchildren.
