Train collection
Jimmy
Thomas of Holly Springs started collecting Lionel LGB trains about 15
years ago. His collection is left out on the den floor year around and
he said he runs them regularly. The trains are real big collector’s
items in Europe, especially in Germany, where the European-style
buildings in the set were also made. He called the trains “expensive
toys for the adult male.” “This is mainly adult men playing with these
because of the price,” he said. He purchased some of his sets on eBay
and others new from dealers. One of the older O Scale locomotives in
his collection was made in 1950. The Thomas home was one of those
featured this year on the Christmas Tour of Homes. |
