is Thursday, Dec. 15. It is sponsored by the Byhalia Garden Club and
Byhalia Beautiful. Special election set for Jan. 10 in Potts Camp The Town of Potts Camp will hold a special election for alderman on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012. The
winner will fill a seat formerly held by Mary Houston, who was elected
mayor in a November special election after the death of mayor Ricky
Lesure in October. Qualifying deadline is
December 31 at 5 p.m. at town hall. Necessary forms may be obtained at
town hall between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on election day January 10. Holly Springs Chamber plans lighting contest Judging for the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce Holiday Lighting Contest is set for the days of December 12-15. Make sure your lights are on late in the afternoon on these days to be considered. Categories
this year include first, second and third place in the business and
residential lighting and a best door for business and residential. Businesses and residences within the city limits will be judged as each street will be ridden by the judges. The
winners of the contest will be announced December 16 during the chamber
of commerce Christmas party at the Marshall County Historical Museum
between the hours of 5 p.m.-7 p.m. For more information, call the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce office at 252-2943. Byhalia police officers respond to 38 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 38 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 4;
miscellaneous, 4; escorts, 15; thefts, 1; assists, 1; motor vehicle
accidents, 4; fires, 1; medical, 6; trespass, 2. Byhalia police officers also made five arrests during the past week.
