Byhalia loses to Horn Lake
By BARRY BURLESON
Class 6A Horn Lake drove the short distance to Marshall County Friday night and left with a pair of 20-plus-point wins over 3A Byhalia.
The Lady Eagles handed the Lady Indians their first loss of the season, 59-34.
“They just had too much height,” said Renee Crenshaw, head coach of the Byhalia girls. “They out-rebounded us big-time.”
The Lady Indians trailed 28-15 at the half.
Shandricka Sessom led Byhalia with 15 points. Latara Jones had nine.
Crenshaw said her squad, 2-1 on the season, only returns three players from last season.
“We’ve been playing well,” she said. “We’re just young and inconsistent right now.”
The Byhalia boys dropped a 77-56 decision to Horn Lake.
The Eagles’ lead was just nine, 56-47, going into the fourth quarter, when they went on a 21-9 run to put the game away.
Leading Byhalia (1-3) on offense were Dandrick Fifer with 18, Jamerson Euell with 12 and Kendrick Parker with nine.
Byhalia teams hosted Marshall County rival Potts Camp on Tuesday of this week. They will then host the Byhalia Thanksgiving Tournament this Friday and Saturday. Next Tuesday, Nov. 29, they host Trezevant.
