News Briefs‘State of the County’ scheduled for Nov. 17 The
Marshall County Industrial Development Authority and the CREATE
Foundation are sponsoring a “State of the County Presentation” on
Thursday, Nov. 17. It will be held from 5:30 p.m.
to 6:30 p.m. at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building, 235 North
Memphis Street, Holly Springs. The public is cordially invited to attend this presentation. Early deadlines set for next week’s newspaper The South Reporter announces early deadlines for its next edition due to the Thanksgiving holiday. All
deadlines for the November 24 newspaper are set for this Friday, Nov.
18. Deadline for classified advertising is 12 noon and deadline for all
other advertising, including legal notices, and all news is at 5 p.m. The
South Reporter will be printed a day earlier than normal next week. It
will be available from racks and vendors on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Local
subscribers will receive it in the mail on Wednesday, Nov. 23. The South Reporter office will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24, and reopen for business Friday, Nov. 25, at 8 a.m. Christmas parade slated for December 3 The annual Holly Jolly Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. The
parade will start on Highway 178 East, in the old Colonial parking
area. Lineup begins at 3 p.m. with judging at 4 p.m. Call the Holly

other questions. Grand marshal this year is Willie Flemon. Main Street reception Saturday at Rust Holly
Springs Main Street’s second annual awards reception will be held
Saturday, Nov. 19, at Rust College cafeteria at 7 p.m. All Main Street
members are invited. Tickets are available for $15 for non-members. Byhalia police officers respond to 23 calls Byhalia police officers responded to 23 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 4;
miscellaneous, 6; escorts, 4; domestic, 1; motor vehicle accidents, 1;
fires, 1; medical, 6. Byhalia police also made four arrests last week.
