Byhalia girls begin season with wins

The Byhalia Lady Indians began their season in fine fashion.
Coach Renee Crenshaw’s team turned back both Ashland and Lewisburg last week to start 2-0.
The Byhalia boys, led by new head coach Todd Hutchinson, went 1-2 during opening week.
Latara Jones and Quanisha Grayson combined for 36 points as the Byhalia girls knocked off Ashland 66-62 in overtime Tuesday night, Nov. 8.
Jones scored 20 and Grayson 16.
The Lady Indians jumped in front 15-11 in the first quarter but trailed 23-22 at the half. The second half was back and forth. Byhalia then outscored Ashland 13-8 in the extra period.
Dametris Anderson had a game-high 24 points for Ashland. Alontra Tucker added 11.
The Lady Indians then clobbered Lewisburg on the road Friday night by a 69-39 final.
Grayson was on fire, scoring 30 points. Jones had nine.
The Lady Indians outscored the Lady Patriots 43-14 in the second and third quarters.
The Byhalia boys tipped off their season with a 49-43 loss to Ashland.
They rebounded for a 44-41 win Friday night at Lewisburg.
Then the Indians dropped a close one, 59-56, Saturday to West Oktibbeha in triple overtime.
Byhalia teams host Horn Lake Friday night. They host Potts Camp next Tuesday, Nov. 22.
