at home Friday, then cruised to a 44-22 win over Central Hinds in the

Potts Camp boys finished second in the Class 2A State Cross Country
Meet Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. The Lady Cardinals placed
fourth. The Cardinals’ team score was 58,
trailing champion J.Z. George, which had a 28. Finishing third was East

H.W. Byers wins; trip to Shaw next By BARRY BURLESON Editor The H.W. Byers Lions had a choice to make after an 0-3 start. “They
could either fall apart or come closer together,” coach James Kimbrough
said. “They chose to come together and play good football.” They
proceeded to win six out of their final eight games, good enough to put
them in the state playoffs in just their first season of district
competition. The latest victory was a 54-6 blowout of Biggersville

Indians’ playoff run halted at Booneville By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The
Byhalia Indians came up short in their first round playoff battle at
Northeast Community College Tiger Stadium in the heart of Booneville

Danley named all-star; Collins breaks record By BARRY BURLESON Editor A Byhalia High School senior has been selected to play in the Bernard Blackwell All-Star Football Game. Another Indian has shattered a school record. Jamal
Danley, a guard on offense and a tackle on defense for the Indians,
will play for the North in the annual game Saturday, Dec. 17. The state
all-star contest will be played at the Biloxi High School stadium and

New basketball season underway By BARRY BURLESON Editor Basketball is in full swing this week in Marshall County. The
Marshall Academy Patriots and Lady Patriots have begun their season
with the girls starting 2-3 and the boys 1-1. The Patriots are the
