candidates are running for mayor in Potts Camp. On the ballot for the
Tuesday, Nov. 15, special election will be Mary Houston and Kenneth
Work. Voting at town hall will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information on the special election, call the Potts Camp Town Hall at 662-333-7285. The
election is necessary due to the death of Mayor Ricky Lesure on October
5. He had served in the position for just over two years – beginning
his first term of office in July of 2009. Military Appreciation Thursday night The
public in Marshall County is invited to attend the first annual
Military Appreciation Ceremony Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Eddie Lee
Smith Multi-Purpose Building. The program is arranged by Lt. Col. William Hollowell, U.S. Army (Retired) and First Sgt. Calvin James, U.S. Army (Retired). Veterans
and active military from all four branches of the U.S. Military are to
be honored and are urged to come participate in this event held in
their honor. After the ceremony celebrating
military service personnel and their families, there will be a
reception with finger food provided. The program is expected to be over
by 8:30 p.m. Col. Hollowell will be the guest speaker for the ceremony Thursday. ‘State of the County’ scheduled for Nov. 17 The
Marshall County Industrial Development Authority and the CREATE
Foundation are sponsoring a “State of the County Presentation” on
Thursday, Nov. 17. It will be held from 5:30 p.m.
to 6:30 p.m. at the Eddie Lee Smith Multi-Purpose Building, 235 North
Memphis Street, Holly Springs. The public is cordially invited to attend this presentation. Parade December 3; Flemon grand marshal The annual Holly Jolly Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. The
parade will start on Highway 178 East, in the old Colonial parking
area. Lineup begins at 3 p.m. with judging at 4 p.m. Call the Holly

other questions. Grand marshal this year is Willie Flemon, who is retiring after four terms as a county supervisor. |
