The Potts Camp boys took the top prize in the Region 1-2A cross county meet last Saturday at Saltillo. The girls finished third. Several Cardinals and Lady Cardinals move on to the state meet this Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. The Potts Camp boys won the district championship with a score of 24. East Union was second (36) and Hickory Flat third (73). The top seven Cardinals ran a personal record on a tough course, according to coach Karen Green. All qualified for state. They
are Kris Roberts, who finished first in the meet, Brantley Harris
(second), Ben Bolden (fifth), Jordon Harris (sixth), Hunter Farr
(10th), Alan Shaw (12th) and Xavion Allen (15th). Roberts’ winning time on the 3.1-mile course was 17:50.86. Brantley Harris was close behind at 18:10.61. The Lady Cardinals finished behind first-place East Union and second-place New Site at the district meet. Amber
Cooper finished second at district and set a personal record with a
time of 17:56.66 on the two-and-a-half mile course. Other top finishers
were Anna Summerlin (ninth), Shauna Haney (13th), Tenesha Woods (23rd),
Jakayla Johnson (25th), Hailey Miller (28th) and Zana Davis (32nd). All
will move on to state this weekend. Cooper, Summerlin and Haney were named all-division. |
