Investigators seek tips in larcenies
By SUE WATSON
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is seeking tips regarding the theft of copper cores from outside air conditioner units at residences and churches, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
He said several larcenies of units at churches have done large amounts of damage.
“We are offering substantial rewards for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects responsible for these larcenies,” the sheriff said. “The thief makes about $300 off the copper but the cost to repair or replace the units can be in the thousands of dollars.”
He asked anyone who sees suspicious activity at any church to call the sheriff’s office at 662-252-1311 and report the activity to Maj. Kelly McMillen.
Dickerson reported the arrest of one burglary suspect.
Randy Holt Jr., 20, of the 300 block of Young Road, Byhalia, was arrested and charged with one count of burglary of a residence, he said. Investigators are seeking two juvenile suspects believed to be involved in the same burglary, the sheriff said.
“We were able to recover property taken from the residence at Holt’s residence,” the sheriff said.
Holt was released on $10,000 bond.
