Burglaries rise; take precautions By SUE
WATSON There was an average of three home or business burglaries each week in Holly Springs from July 13-October 20, according to reports from the police department. During that period when 40 were reported, two arrests were made for burglary. Although the majority of burglaries were residential, five were at commercial businesses. WATSON With the economy and the state of federal government budgets up in the air, the Marshall County’s ambulance provider for the last three years, Med Stat, has offered to extend the current contract as is until the company is more sure. Barry Etheridge, with Med Stat, said changes in reimbursements from Medicare/Medicaid are possible. Eighty percent of the company’s revenue comes from these sources, he told the board of supervisors.

He provided lots of jokes, many examples of his artwork, some history of his life experiences and a view into his inner life. Dulaney taught art and history for 30 years at Itawamba. WATSON Marshall County’s delegation provided the program for the recent Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon, and officials with Methodist Hospital, who are spearheading the new Olive Branch hospital to be completed in 2013, were also on the program. The meeting was kicked off by words of gratitude from executive director Sarah Sawyer and president Leah Grant for new members, sustaining members, sponsorships, and those who support the chamber, in existence since 1988. WATSON The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is seeking tips regarding the theft of copper cores from outside air conditioner units at residences and churches, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson. Holly Springs parade Dec. 3 The annual Holly Jolly Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, Dec. 3, at 5 p.m. The parade will start on Highway 178 East, in the old Colonial parking area.
