Fifty brings back pain

At church a few weeks ago, the announcements included a “Senior Day” at a church in a neighboring county.

I thought nothing about it.

Then someone asked, “For what ages?”

A quick reply from one of our members was “50 and over.”

Really frightening

• Last week, all my co-workers were in agreement -- we’d dress up for Halloween.

Monday morning, son Kris had cheerfully put on his grinning pumpkin T-shirt and I was resplendent in a sequinned cape, black shirt and pants, white face make-up and white and black “shock” wig.

Did I mention the black lipstick I borrowed from my granddaughters?

Stennis Space Center ready for next era

A half-century ago this week, NASA announced it would establish a rocket testing facility in Hancock County. America had a big dream – to put the first man on the moon – and Mississippi would be part of it. That announcement, on Oct. 25, 1961, came exactly five months after President John F. Kennedy told the nation we would reach the moon within the decade.

Dear Editor,

Our hearts are overflowing with pride and joy with the success of our annual Bazaar at Holy Family School. We would like to personally extend our sincere gratitude, appreciation and thanks to everyone who participated and shared with us. To our sponsors, Sacred Heart Southern Missions, we thank you for all you do to ensure we have what we need to teach, reach and minister at Holy Family School.

To the community and community leaders, we would like to thank you for your generous gifts and donations. These gifts helped us provide the food, games and prizes we were able to offer.

To the volunteers, your gifts of time and services were invaluable. We could not have done such an excellent job without you.

To the parents, grandparents and families of the students, we would not exist without your support.

To everyone who came and participated with us, we would not have been as successful without you. We truly thank you.

This is the first of many events that we are planning to present in conjunction with you, the community. We appreciate your support and thank you. This event provided an opportunity for us to reconnect with you, the community. We know and value this relationship.

We are here to support, educate and nurture your children. We are proud to be of service to the community and your children.
