Jimmy Stewart Bell
Jimmy
Stewart Bell, 62, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 24, 2011, at his home. He
was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, a contractor and a veteran.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Carey Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Bro. Doug Bell and
Dr. Don Labelle officiated.
He
leaves his mother,
Annie Bell Cook of Holly Springs; a son, Doug Bell (Brandi) of
Southaven; two brothers, Henry Bell Jr. of Holly Springs, Ted Bell of
Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Carol Gardner of Mt. Pleasant; and two
grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Bell.

Ala Mae Conrad
Ala
Mae Conrad, 80, of Lamar, died Oct. 18, 2011, at her home. She was the
widow of John Conrad and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints.
Services
were held at 2 p.m.
on Oct. 20 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in John C.
Skelton Cemetery in Lamar. Bishop Mike Roland officiated.
She
leaves a daughter, Judy Wilburn Byrd of Lamar; two brothers, James
“Shorty” Skelton, James “Buckie” Skelton, both of Lamar; three sisters,
Dale Kahler of Bartlett, Tenn., Martha Allen of Lamar, Addie Watkins of
Barton; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by a son, John Calvin “Jackie” Wilburn; three
brothers, Samuel “Sweetie Man” Skelton, John K. Skelton, Howard
Skelton; a sister, Annie Creasie; and grandson, Richard Dewayne Wilburn.

Marion Calvin Elliott Jr.
Marion
Calvin Elliott Jr., 75, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 22, 2011, at
Trinity Mission Health & Rehab. He was plant superintendent at
Holly Springs Brick and Tile Co. and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 25 at First Baptist Church of Holly
Springs, where he was a member. Burial was in Ashland. Bro. Paul
Middleton officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.
He
leaves his wife, Sue Whitehorn
Elliott; a son, Kerry Elliott (Delores) of Hernando; a brother, Roger
Elliott of Potts Camp; two sisters, Valena West of Ashland, Patsy
Bolden of Holly Springs; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Linda Carrol Ellzey
Linda
Carrol Ellzey, 62, of Byhalia, died Oct. 18, 2011, at Baptist DeSoto
Hospital in Southaven. She was a charter member of Redeemer Evangelical
Church in Germantown, Tenn.
Graveside
services were held at 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens
in Southaven.
She
leaves her husband of 46 years, Clyde Ellzey; two sons, Clyde Jason
Ellzey of Southaven, Richard Douglas Ellzey of Memphis, Tenn.; a
daughter, Carol Dawn Testa (Sam) of Oxford; her mother, Geraldine Laird
Moore of Southaven; three sisters, Jo Ann Hobbs of Byhalia, Regina
Jones of Terry, Margie St. Laurent of Byhalia; four grandchildren and
one great-grandchild.
She
was preceded in death by her stepfather, Richard Hodge.

Sabrina Quinn Hall
Sabrina
Quinn Hall, 15, of Byhalia, died Oct. 21, 2011, at LeBonheur Hospital
in Memphis, Tenn. She was a student.

were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Bro. Melvin Shackelford officiated.
She
leaves her mother and father, Ricky Hall and Tammy Hall; her brother,
Ricky Lee Hall Jr.; and four sisters, Danielle Hall, Sally Hall,

Alfred E. Loftin
Alfred
E. Loftin, 82, of Mt. Pleasant, died Oct. 18, 2011, at his home.
Following military service in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict,
he began his career as a farmer and dairyman. He served more than 10
years as president of the board of directors for Mt. Pleasant Christian
Academy. In 1976, he was elected to the first of four consecutive terms
to the Marshall County Board of Supervisors. He was a member of the Mt.
Pleasant United Methodist Church.
Services
were
held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial
was in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Dr. Ray Branch and Dr. Don Labelle
officiated.
He
leaves his wife of 52 years,
Bobbie Ross Loftin; two sons, Ross (Charlotte) of Tupelo, Mark (Lori)
of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Jean Loftin Hawkins (Stan) of Como; two
sisters, Doris Howell of Collierville, Tenn., Ann Taylor of Mt.
Pleasant; two brothers, Ralph (Ella Jean), Luke (Leslie) Loftin of Mt.
Pleasant, and 12 grandchildren.
He
was preceded
in death by four sisters, Helen Read Lucado, Mary Margaret Allen,
Hallie Boggan and Sarah Claire Billings; and two brothers, Sam Loftin
Jr. and Billy Loftin.

were Paul Burnett, Steven Loftin, Benton Loftin, Samuel Hawkins, Colby
Haley and Guy Hawkins.

“Johnny” Malone Jr., 58, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 20, 2011, at his
home. He was a construction worker.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 at Chulahoma Baptist Church. Burial was
in the church cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements.

Jesse Pryor
Jesse
Pryor, 73, of Bradenton, Fla., formerly of Aurora, Ill., died Oct. 2,
2011. He was born Dec. 9, 1937, in Holly Springs. He was a member of
Faith Church United Methodist in Bradenton and formerly a steward at
St. John AME Church in Aurora. He was the owner of the Detailers Inc.
in West Chicago, Ill.
There
were no services held.
He
leaves his wife of 18 years, Patricia A. (Kress) Pryor; his sister,
Ethel (Bubba) Jeffries; a brother, Willie Pryor; nine children, Linda
Faye Pryor, Michael (Mary Lou) Pryor, Timothy Pryor, Sandra (Kevin)
Rayford, Farnica Pryor-Blakes, Stacee (Anthony) Vaughn-Spurling,
Shetira (Roberto) Vaughn-Arnold, Shawnta Vaughn; stepdaughter,
Katherine M. Kress; 13 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.
He
was preceded in death by a sister, Corrinnie (Doll) James; a brother,
Leroy Pryor; sister-in-law, El (Willie) Pryor.
In
