Hope Tour visits Holly Springs By SUE WATSON
Some cyclists with Venture Expeditions made their way through Holly Springs Thursday, Sept. 29, on their way to Atlanta, Ga. They originated their Hope Tour to benefit storm and tornado victims in Joplin, Mo., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., and ended it in Atlanta where they attended a large conference of church leaders. Venture Expeditions works for various charitable causes worldwide, including clean water, HIV, human trafficking, disaster response and anywhere there is a need, according to Paul Hurckman, executive director of the 10-year-old ministry. The cyclists began their ride on the road on September 25 and expected to be in Atlanta October 5, an 800-mile ride. The group, many who met on this ride, slept on church floors and ate with church groups along the way. Corporate sponsors for this ride included Convoy of Hope, Hello Somebody relief for food for poor children, and Catalyst Conference, which is hosting the 13,000-member church leader conference in Atlanta. Hurckman said they want to raise $100,000 on this ride, a portion of which will go to a church in Joplin. People can donate to the charity ride by sending a text message and the phone company will send a $10 donation to Venture Expeditions, Hurckman said. Text PRESENT to 50555 to donate $10. Riders on this venture expedition are from different locations – San Diego, Calif., Ohio, Joplin, Minneapolis, Ft. Worth, Dallas, Chicago, and Lafayette, Ark..
