Chelsey Gilliam wrapped up her high school softball career with an outstanding performance in the state all-star game.
The Marshall Academy senior went two for three at the plate and scored the game-winning run in the North’s 3-2 win over the South October 18.
Gilliam doubled off the fence in the seventh inning and later crossed home on a teammate’s hit to set off the North’s victory celebration.
She played first base and batted fourth for the North AA-AAA all-star fast pitch squad. The Mississippi Association of Independent Schools all-star game was played at Mississippi College in Clinton.
Gilliam recently made a verbal commitment to play next season for Northwest Community College. She plans to sign with the Lady Rangers in January.
Other seniors from District 1-AA on the North all-star team were Memrie Corley of Carroll Academy and Bradi Beard of North Delta. Head coach was Rusty Miller of Carroll and his assistant was Alex Fletcher of Pillow Academy.
Gilliam and her Lady Patriot teammates finished 24-12 this season, advancing all the way to the Class AA State Tournament. She was the only senior on the Marshall squad.
