By BARRY BURLESON
The H.W. Byers girls ran their way to first-place medals in a cross country meet at Corinth on Saturday, Oct. 15.
“They ran really hard and did exceptionally well,” coach Jason Thompson said. “I was very pleased and impressed. It was great to see the group do so well.”
Winning the top prize at the meet in Class 1A were Drucilla Echols, Tearney Jones, Autezia Sellers, Lanchai Collins and Miracle Duncan.
Sellers finished first individually in 1A and Collins second.
Other 1A teams competing on the two-and-a-half-mile course were French Camp, Tupelo Christian and Nanih Waiya.
The H.W. Byers boys also competed in the meet, a 3.1-mile course. Top runners for the Lions were Kevin Crumb and Marterrious Rayford.
“Both did well,” Coach Thompson said.
The district cross country meet is scheduled for this Saturday at Saltillo.
