Iola Lee Craine
Iola
Lee
Craine, 75, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 9, 2011, at Alliance Health
Care System. A former member Finley Grove Baptist Church, she was a
graduate of Rosenwald School and attended M.I. College in Holly
Springs. She was a domestic worker for many years and also worked at
Graceland Home Care in New Albany. She was the widow of Joe Martin
Sr.
She later married Oddie Lee Craine, who also preceded her in death.
Services
were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 15 at Rising Star MB Church in Holly
Springs, where she was a member. Pastor Robert McClain officiated.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge
of arrangements.
She
leaves two sons, Joe Martin
Jr., Mark A. Martin (Marcella) of Holly Springs; a daughter, Mary J.
Cathey (Jimmy) of Hickory Flat; three stepsons, Walter D. Hampton
(Mary) Ivory Craine, Christopher Craine; a brother, Odell Lesure Jr.
(Dottie) of Memphis, Tenn.; five sisters, Rose Jones (Chris) of
Memphis, Mary Simmons of New Albany, Earnestine Pegues, Ella Dortch,
Josephine Bougard, all of Holly Springs; three stepsisters, Layenice
Thomas, Elaine Pye, Julie Thomas; nine stepbrothers, Odis Pegues, Eric
Pegues, Larry Pegues, James Falkner, Peter Pegues, Tymen Pegues, Lee
Pegues Jr., Fredrick Pegues, Gary Pegues; eight grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers
were Royce
Pegues, Raphael Pegues, Pierrie Baird, Chace King, Tulane Simmons,
Julius Robinson and Maurice Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were Joe Martin
Jr. III, Mark Anthony Martin, Jimmy Cathey, Joshua Martin, Walter D.
Hampton, Johnny Crosby and Odell Lesure Jr.
Charles Wynn Gadd
Charles
Wynn Gadd, 84, of Hickory Flat, died Oct. 16, 2011, at Baptist Hospital
in Oxford. He was the widower of Jeanine Harter Gadd. He was a
distributor with Phillips 66 for 45 years. He was a member of the
Hickory Flat Methodist Church, a master Mason and 32nd Scottish Rite
and a former member of the Lions Club.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 20 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat.
He
leaves two sons, Charles “Chuck” Gadd (Kay), Jack Gadd (Pebble); a
daughter, Clare Gadd Pipkin (Ricky) of Hickory Flat; special friend,
Sarah Collins of Hickory Flat; seven grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick
Allen Pipkin.

Alma Jean Harris
Alma
Jean Harris, 53, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 5, 2011, in Ripley. She
was a cook.
Services
were held at 1 p.m. on Oct. 14 at New Dimension Salt and Light Church.
Burial was in Mt. Peel Baptist Cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home in
Coldwater was in charge of arrangements.
She
leaves a daughter, Latanza Harris-Taylor of Holly Springs; her mother,
Mary Fitz Harris of Chulahoma; three sisters, Tryphenia Newson of
Coldwater, Linda Harris of Holly Springs, Demetra Wicks of Byhalia;
eight brothers, Paul Harris of Aurora, Ill., Dave Harris of Kenosha,
Wisc., Willie James Harris of Arkabutla, Willie June Harris of Phoenix,
Ariz., Ivory Harris, James Harris, Melvin Harris, Oscar Harris, all of
Holly Springs; and one grandchild.
Sharon Renee Reed
Sharon
Renee Reed, 64, of Hickory Flat, died Oct. 15, 2011, at North MS
Medical Center in Tupelo. She was Pentecostal.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 17 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Tony Roberts
officiated.
She
leaves her husband, Ray
Beasley; three sons, Charles Heflin Jr. of Hickory Flat, David Heflin
(Peggy) of Covington, Tenn., Jeff Beasley of Myrtle; two brothers,
Lloyd Box of Byhalia, Mark Box of Myrtle; two sisters, Lena Sides of
Olive Branch, Jewel Bryant of Harmontown; six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
She
was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Heflin.

Lincoln Clarence Rogers
Lincoln
Clarence Rogers, 61, died Oct. 15, 2011, at his home in Holly Springs.
He was formerly of Wartburg, Tenn. A Vietnam Army veteran, he was a
truck driver and a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church in Lamar.
Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Coleman Funeral Home Chapel in
Oxford, with burial in Hill Crest Cemetery. Bro. Jimmy Curle officiated.
He
leaves his wife, Gale Rogers; two son, Jason (Dawn) Rogers of Wartburg,
Kevin (Tracy) Rogers of Lancing, Tenn.; two daughters, Casey (Rick)
Loftin of Lamar, Leslie (Brad) Curle of Ripley; two brothers, David
Rogers of Coalfield, Tenn., Paul Rogers of Clinton, Tenn.; five
sisters, Carol Jones of Dyllis, Tenn., Mary Stewart of Oakdale, Tenn.,
Karen Griffin of Dyllis, Catherine Blalock of Powell, Tenn., Carla
Lambert of Courtland; and five grandchildren.

Elenor Ruth Sanders
Elenor
Ruth Sanders, 86, of Marshall County, died Oct. 11, 2011, at home with
Unity Hospice attending. She received her degree in nursing from the
University of Tennessee in 1948. She completed a post graduate nursing
course at the University of Colorado before enlisting in the United
States Air Force Nurse Corps in January 1951. During the Korean War she
was stationed at the AF Hospital on Elmendorf Base, Alaska. She
continued to serve in the AF Medical Reserve until 1972, retiring as a
major. She practiced as a nurse anesthetist in the Memphis, Tenn. area
from 1955 to 1985. She retired to a horse farm in Marshall County in
1987.
Following
cremation, interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
She
leaves the co-owner of her horse farm, Dr. Patricia Lucas; a niece,
Martha Gail Aitkens; a nephew, Luckett Collins; and a foster son,
Calvin Nelms.
Willie Louis Stephenson
Willie
Louis Stephenson, 56, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 7, 2011, in Memphis,
Tenn. He was a factory worker.
Services
were held at 12 noon on Oct. 15 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in
Bell Grove Cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements

Chicago, Ill., Partatina Mays of Coldwater; and a brother, Rudolph
Stephenson of Holly Springs.
Bonnie Turner
Bonnie
Turner, 68, of Byhalia, died Oct. 15, 2011, at her home. She was a
clerical employee.
Services
were held at Meadow Brook Baptist Church, where she was a member at 7
p.m. on Oct. 17. Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Bro. Oscar Geeslin
officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She
leaves her husband, Owen Turner; a son, Robert Shannon Turner of Holly
Springs; a daughter, Melissa Brandon of Byhalia; a brother, Ronnie Nash
of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Billie Skelton of Memphis; and six
grandchildren.

Raymond Joseph Woods
Raymond
Joseph Woods, 81, of Meridian, formerly of Holly Springs, died Sept. 3,
2011. He was a retired art supervisor and instructor for the Meridian
Public School System, adjunct art instructor at Meridian Community
College, tutorial instructor at Hope Village for Children, past member
of Lions Club and a member of the vestry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in
Meridian. Rev. Harriett Simmons officiated. Burial was in Forest Lawn
Cemetery.
He
leaves his wife, Sarah Woods; a daughter, Elizabeth Blackledge, (Brett)
of Athens, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.
The
family requests memorials be made to the food pantry at St. Paul’s
Episcopal Church or to East Mississippi Animal Rescue.
