Jr. high Pats rout Rebels
The Marshall Academy junior high football team had no trouble Thursday night in the land of the Rebels.
The Patriots routed District 1-AA foe Carroll Academy 44-6 to improve to 3-0 on the season.
Thomas Faulkenbery put MA in business early with a fumble recovery on the opening kickoff. The Patriots scored a few plays later on a 3-yard pass play from Dakota Dailey to Colt Lindsey. Devin McGreger ran for the two-point conversion.
On MA’s next possession, Tucker Fant reeled in an 80-yard touchdown toss from Dailey. The quarterback kept for the two. It was 16-0.
McGreger recovered a Carroll fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Four plays later Dailey scored on a 7-yard quarterback keeper. The try-for-two failed.
The Pats lit up the scoreboard two more times in the first half – Dailey on a 43-yard run and Lindsey on a 9-yard reception. Hunter Barringer cashed in one of the two two-point attempts.
At the half, MA led 36-0.
To open the second half, McGreger returned the kickoff 22 yards. Seven plays later Faulkenbery darted 7 yards for six points. Dailey carried for the two.
The Rebels avoided the shutout with a late score.
The Patriots, 2-0 in the district, will visit district opponent Indianola Academy this Thursday at 7 p.m.
