Republican Party, was a captain of the Color Guard at Ole Miss, was
active in beauty pageants and modeling and was an active Rotarian. Services

Stephenson Colston, 80, of Holly Springs, died Sept. 2, 2011, at
Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. He was a member of First Baptist
Church and a lineman for the City of Holly Springs. He was a U.S. Army
Veteran. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Sept.
4 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Curtis Ferrell officiated.
Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. He leaves his
wife, Bettie Howell Colston; three daughters, Bonita Stephens of
Humbolt, Tenn., Nancy Bynum of Batesville, and Stephenie Warren of

Lee Dodd, 92, of Lamar, died Sept. 1, 2011, at her home. She was the
widow of Theodore Dodd and charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. Services

Louise Barksdale Jones, 52, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 31, 2011, at
her home. She was a member of True Vine MB Church, Holly Springs, and a
1978 graduate of Holly Springs High School. She was employed by KFC. Services
were held at 2 p.m. Sept. 7 at True Vine MB Church. Burial was in
Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. David Hoey officiated. J.F. Brittenum
and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She
leaves her husband Sam Jones Jr.; a daughter, LaTara Royston of Holly
Springs; two sons, Derick Royston of Nashville, Tenn., Sam Jones III of
Holly Springs; two sisters, Annie B. Johnson of Alpharetta, Ga.,
Barbara J. Taylor of Holly Springs; and three brothers Willie Edward
Barksdale, Larrie Barksdale and Bobby Barksdale, all of Holly Springs. Henry McDonald Jr.
Henry McDonald Jr., 67, of Lamar, died Aug. 19, 2011. He was a member of Jaired Hebrew Chapel C.M.E. Church in Lamar. Services were held at 4 p.m. on Aug. 30 at Serenity Funeral Home. Rev. W.T. Mayfield officiated. He
leaves his wife, Rose McDonald; four daughters, Audrey and Stephanie,
both of Memphis, Tenn., Latisha of Georgia, and Ragine of Holly
Springs; a son, Henry III (Beverly) of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister, Annie
Jean Withers; a brother, Ralph McDonald (Darlene). He was preceded in death by a son, Marcus; and two brothers, Will and Michael. Katherine L. Powell Katherine L. Powell, 74, of Byhalia, died Sept. 3, 2011. Services
were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 7 at First Baptist Church, Byhalia.
Burial was in Byhalia Cemetery. Brantley Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves her husband of 44 years,
George E. Powell; one son, Michael (Debbie) House; one daughter, Linda
House McPhail; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial
