The Byhalia High School volleyball team picked up their first win of the season August 25 at home. The Lady Indians won the match 3-2 with scores of 15-25, 25-19, 17-25, 25-22 and 15-9. Leading
the way for Byhalia, versus Pontotoc, were Ashley Richmond with three
aces and Shameika Taylor and Corneshia Rayford with three digs apiece. Coach
Stacy Filocco said Tralezza Wilson set well throughout the match and
Antionette McCracken was a consistent force in the back row, picking up
several tips in the last two sets. The Lady
Indians, with only three returnees from last year’s squad, improved to
1-5 with the victory. This is just the fourth year for Byhalia High
School to have a volleyball team and Filocco’s third season as coach. The Lady Indians were scheduled to go to Pontotoc on Thursday of last week. The
remainder of the schedule includes – September 8, Byers, site to be
determined; September 13, Senatobia, away; September 15, Lafayette,
home; September 22, Lafayette, away; September 27, Byers, site to be
determined; and September 29, Lewisburg, away. |
