Malone, 18-year-old daughter of Phil and Donna Malone of Byhalia, was
recently awarded the state title of Miss Mississippi American Teen
2001. Mandy won the event in Jackson, competing with 63 other girls.
She also won Miss Photogenic and Teen Sportswear Model. She is a May
2001 graduate of Marshall Academy. Bethany Baptist Church celebrates 65th Bethany
Baptist Church of Potts Camp will celebrate its 65th anniversary Sun.,
Aug. 26, with a homecoming service. The church was founded August 27,
1906. 25 Years Ago - July 31, 1986 Bell announces new way to get operator Holly
Springs customers will soon need to change the way they dial to get
operator assistance on some long distance calls, according to South
Central Bell manager Dan Estes. Customers will still dial “0” for
assistance on local calls and some long distance calls. But beginning
Aug. 7, customers needing assistance on calls not handled by South
Central Bell will need to dial “00” for an operator. New Presbyterian minister here The
Rev. R. Milton Winter, who has recently accepted the invitation to be
minister of the Presbyterian Church of Holly Springs, will fill the
pulpit this Sunday for worship service. Rev. Winter will receive his
doctorate from Richmond Seminary this fall and will be permanent
minister in Holly Springs in November. 50 Years Ago - August 3, 1961 Potts Camp All-Stars Potts
Camp basketball players Jimmy Siddell and Gale Goode are scheduled to
play for the North team in the Mississippi High School All-Star
basketball game. Services heard in ancient church Restoration
of the Red Banks Presbyterian Church is nearing completion, thanks to
the many people who have generously donated their time and money to the
project. Two services were recently conducted in the century-old church
with the Rev. Stanford Parnell presiding. |
