sign up to run for political offices
Some
more local candidates have signed up for political races.
Those
qualifying to run for various county elected positions since the
publishing of last week’s newspaper include:
•
Justice Court Judge, North District – Derwin Cobb.
•
Superintendent of Education – Felicia Anderson-Harvell.
• Constable,
North District – Leon Cothern.
•
Supervisor, District 1 – Don Buford.
•
County Prosecutor – Amery Ewing Moore.
The
primary election is Tuesday, August 2. The primary runoff election is
Tuesday, Aug. 23. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Fair
association plans meeting next Monday
The
Marshall County Fair Association will hold its annual membership
meeting on Monday, Jan. 24.
The
meeting will be held at the fairgrounds on Highway 7 North in the
cattle building and will begin at 7 p.m.
All
interested in the fairgrounds are encouraged to attend. Come out and
meet your district representative.
All
members are urged to attend. Many important decisions for the upcoming
year are made at this meeting.
Byhalia
chamber lunch slated for Thursday
The
Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce quarterly membership luncheon is set
for this Thursday, Jan. 20.
The
luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (displays, networking
and buffet) at Craw De Lis restaurant, 21 Vinson Road, Byhalia.
Co-hosts
are Southern Pride Sod Farm and UBS Financial Services.
Mayor
Phil Malone and aldermen will present the “State of the Town.”
There
is no charge for chamber members with reservations – all others, a $10
charge at the door.
