News BriefsCounty school board sets July 19 meeting The Marshall County School Board will hold its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 19. The
meeting will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Marshall County Board of
Supervisors’ board room located at 103B Market Street in Holly Springs. Biker’s Night Out starts Thursday, July 14 The
Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce will kick off the second annual
Biker’s Night Out in Blues Alley with a VIP cocktail party on the
balcony at the Courtsquare Inn. The party takes place at 5 p.m., Thursday July 14, the first bikers night out of this year. Admittance
to the cocktail party – food and beverages – is $10 per person. All
proceeds benefit the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce. Call
662-252-2943 for advance tickets. Tickets will be available from board
members or at the chamber building at 148 E. College Avenue. Tickets
are limited to the first 50 who register. Any unsold tickets will be
available at the door at Courtsquare Inn. The
cocktail party will substitute for the July Business After Hours event
for networking and socializing, according to chamber executive director
Rebecca Bourgeois. “Members are encouraged to
bring potential members to the cocktail party to meet our board,” she
said. “The event is just a block away from Biker’s Night Out in Blues
Alley, so we will go down there, once they get started, and join them.” Biker’s
Night Out begins with the arrival of bikers at 6 p.m. to North Center
Street and music at 7 p.m. in Blues Alley. The event is sponsored by
the Holly Springs Main Street Association. Ida B. Wells Festival scheduled July 15-17 The Ida B. Wells Arts and Crafts Festival and Birthday Celebration will be held Friday, July 15, through Sunday, July 17. All proceeds benefit the Ida B. Wells-Barnett Museum located at 220 N. Randolph Street in Holly Springs. The
festivities begin Friday with an opening ceremony at the Eddie L. Smith
Multi-Purpose Center, 235 N. Memphis Street. Mayor Andre’ DeBerry will
