James Robinson, whose exploits while mentor to the Holly Springs High
School Lady Hawks’ basketball team reached legendary proportions,
announced his retirement this week. He joined the faculty in 1972 and
taught math for 29 years. He was the Lady Hawks head coach for 28 years. Ruby Taylor honored after 25 years service Ruby
Taylor has retired after 25 years service in the Holly Springs School
District. She also taught at Cadet for six years. Her children hosted a
lunch for her in Memphis, Tenn., and also presented her with a brand
new, 2001 Toyota Camry. 25 Years Ago - June 26, 1986 Mrs. Milan retires Mrs.
Mary Milan of Holly Springs retired from the teaching profession at the
end of the 1985-86 school term, from Ashland Elementary School in
Benton County after 38 years of dedicated service to many young people.
A graduate of M.I. College, she is a member of Samuel Chapel Church and
the wife of Henderson Milan. New admission policy at Wall Doxey Visitors
at Wall Doxey State Park will be required to pay an entrance fee
beginning July 1. The entrance fee was established by the State
Legislature to compensate for the $300,000 budget cuts for the agency. 50 Years Ago - June 22, 1961 Fishing good on Sardis Reservoir From
all reports, fishing is better on Sardis (Lake) than it has been in a
long time. Limit catches of crappie and bream have been reported from
all over the reservoir. Dairy princess Ann Dancy, daughter
or Mrs. Lucious Dancy, was selected Marshall County Dairy Princess at
the Dairy Festival held last week at Wall Doxey State Park. Myra Sue
Burrow, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Burrow of Byhalia, was named
Junior Princess. Happy 4th of July begins at Big Star (advertisement) Pepsi
Cola or Coca Cola, 9¢ a six-pack; Star Kist tuna, 3 for 89¢; Mayrose
